Oakland International Airport (OAK) today announced that Azores Express/SATA International will resume summer season service between Oakland and the beautiful Azores islands, in Portugal. The weekly flight will depart from and arrive at OAK every Tuesday from June 8 through Sept. 28, 2010.
The nine islands of the Azores are located in the Atlantic Ocean, covering nearly 400 miles, and are the closest point in Europe to the United States. The Azores are a paradise for hikers, walkers and cyclists. Flights operate from Terceira Airport (TER), Azores, Portugal.
“Oakland International Airport and Azores Express/SATA International have enjoyed a long and successful partnership, and we’re pleased to host the airline and its customers once again this summer,” said Deborah Ale Flint, Director of Aviation for the Port of Oakland, owner and operator of OAK. “Bay Area and European passengers will experience smooth travels at Oakland, which is known for easy access and excellent customer service,” she continued.
