OAKLAND, CA -- Nonstop low fare scheduled air service to Maui and Honolulu from Oakland International Airport begins Thursday, November 4 by North American Airlines (NAA).

The airline will use modern B757-200 ER aircraft with leather seats, video movies and full service meals.

Introductory fares from $99.00 one-way will kickoff the new air service.

NAA, a financially successful airline for the last 15 years, has been flying to the Hawaiian Islands for the past three years from Oakland with a local tour operator. Now offered directly to the public, NAA's scheduled service will allow more transportation options for all Bay Area residents. The aircraft can be recognized by the giant American flag painted on the vertical tail.

North American is one of the first airlines to offer travelers the "digEplayer" from APS, a portable Video On Demand (VOD) entertainment technology. VOD technology is the future of in-flight entertainment. Each digEplayer is a self-contained, portable entertainment unit pre-programmed with 20 to 30 movies, sitcoms, cartoons, music and games. An internal battery powers each unit, allowing nearly ten hours of uninterrupted use.

Meal service will include hot meals as well as snacks depending on the time of day the passengers are flying.

Tickets are available through local travel agents, over the Internet at such locations as Expedia and Travelocity, as well as the North American Airlines Web site northamericanair.com.

Founded in 1989 by Dan McKinnon, former Chairman of the Civil Aeronautics Board, NAA is a fully certificated U.S. Flag airline with worldwide scheduled service authority and continues to operate scheduled service flights from its corporate headquarters and base of JFK International Airport, New York to the Caribbean. Over the years, NAA has earned the reputation as "America's Greatest Little Airline."
